AirAsia Indonesia Hikes Flight Frequency of Lombok-Jakarta Route

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – AirAsia Indonesia has raised its flight frequency between Lombok and Jakarta to 14 flights a week from seven as the number of travelers has been increasing in the last two months.

The airline also serves the route between Lombok and Surabaya four times a week. In December alone, AirAsia has provided more than 10,000 passenger seats from and to Lombok.

This was among other topics discussed during a meeting with West Nusa Tenggara Governor on Thursday, December 3.

The meeting was made possible through “the cooperation between AirAsia and the West Nusa Tenggara administration, which was established a long time ago”, said Veranita Yosephine Sinaga, AirAsia Indonesia’s president director, in a statement.

Veranita added that in October and November AirAsia made 187 flights to and from Lombok, with the occupancy rate reaching 70 percent in November. This followed the maximum capacity required by the government amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The number of AirAsia passengers visiting Lombok has nearly doubled in the past two months, and is expected to continue to increase in December, she said.

“We are confident that together we will rise again from the current situation by continuing to collaborate, making joint promotional efforts for the tourism products and services, not only hotels but other supporting products such as tourism activities and transportation to encourage and accelerate the economic recovery of the people,” she said.

In one of its activities in Lombok, AirAsia was also seeking potential cooperation to promote hotels in Lombok via the airasia.com platform.

By joining more hotels on the online platform, customers will be able to easily book AirAsia flights and hotels at better prices. Customers can only book hotels via AirAsia.

“We hope that this synergy will result in attractive price offers and lure AirAsia’s million customers across various cities to Lombok to increase the number of the visitors,” she said.
