November 6, 2020, 09.05 PM – The Tiing Hotel in Bali received an accolade for having the ‘Best Hotel Design in 2020’ based on this year’s Dezeen Awards.

The Dezeen Awards is in its third year and has handed out awards for the best designs, interior, and architectural projects in the world in which 62,000 participants joined in the 2020 edition.

The Tiing Hotel has emerged as one of the more secluded places to stay in Bali thanks to its location in Tejakula near northern Bali.

Reaching the location takes a 2.5-hour drive by car where you will pass through wooded areas from the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar.

The hotel was designed by architect Nic Brunsdon who described the achievement as “an award for the bold”.

Travelers can have a first-hand look at this secluded 14-room hotel in Bali for $43 (Rp 619,000) per night.

In explaining his vision, Nic said that he wanted to design the hotel based on the landscape of the area.

Translating his vision into real life, the Tiing Hotel features seven “blades”, each giving the impression of a hallway complemented by high ceilings.

This section of the hotel faces outward to the ocean view and mountain while blocking out the side views.

Each hotel room was designed to encourage guests to relax as evidenced by the management’s decision to not have any televisions in any of the rooms.

Guests can soak up the view from their personal infinity pool available at each room or take a breather in the open-air bathtubs after a day of snorkeling and engaging in some water recreation near the hotel.

According to Brunsdon, the purpose is for guests to focus on being in the moment with the ocean in the front and mountain in the back.

The Tiing Hotel in Bali was designed prior to the coronavirus pandemic, however, Brunsdon is confident that the Bali-based accommodation is an ideal getaway spot for a post-pandemic vacation.

Some of the public facilities available include a red-tiled swimming pool and an ocean-front pavilion for yoga enthusiasts.

Practicing social distancing will not be a problem at this hotel in Bali as Brunsdon explained, “Guests can isolate themselves if they want to or they can interact with other individuals too if they so wish.”

The close proximity of the Tiing Hotel to a fishing village further accentuates the traditional Bali experience. Moreover, the hotel was built using local bamboo and concrete together with local studio Manguning.

As of today, Bali remains closed to foreign travelers until at least early 2021.

Once the island’s tourism sector returns to full-gear, Brunsdon is certain that travelers will be eager to explore and stay at the Tiing Hotel in Bali.
