Frans said Apindo has sent letters to its members at the district level, calling them to provide a better understanding to their employees regarding the manpower law so the workers would not stage the protest.
“The [manpower] law imposes sanctions against a national strike. If a worker takes part in the national strike, it violates the law and they could face sanctions,” he said.
He went on to say that the sanctions will depend on each company. “It could be in the form of warning letters and termination of employment. The latter is the toughest.”
He hoped that the workers will not take part in the nationwide strike as this would only add to the difficulties that both workers and employers have had to endure during this Covid-19 pandemic.
