JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – United Arab Emirates-based supermarket chain group Lulu Hypermarket expressed optimism it will be able to push through with the opening of 15 outlets and warehouse facilities in Indonesia in the coming years.
“Lulu Hypermarket is committed to expanding the business and investment in Indonesia as Southeast Asia’s biggest market with a population of more than 260 million,” said Yusuff Ali, chairman of Lulu Group in a statement when opening the third outlet in Sentul, Bogor July 29.
“Until the end of 2020, Lulu Group is planning to add three new stores in Sawangan, Cinere, and Tangerang [on the outskirts of Jakarta capital],” the company said.

Lulu Hypermarket currently employs 750 people in Indonesia. The number is expected to rise as the company will generate more than 5,000 jobs for Indonesians in the next three years.
Previously, Lulu Group announced it would bring in an investment of $500 million as the company wanted to expand its business to Indonesia by opening 15 stores.
The recent opening of the third store in Indonesia also marked its 191st store worldwide.
Located at Vivo Mall Sentul Bogor on the outskirts of Jakarta, the 6,500 square meter outlet offers products from around the world from food, fashion to lifestyle. Customers could also buy health and beauty products, home appliances, electronics, and various middle eastern food.
LuLu Hypermarkets are available in Gulf countries, Egypt, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
