JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Passengers intending to travel to other Indonesian cities on Java island by train can get their Covid-19 rapid test at 12 stations starting Monday, July 27.

State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) provides rapid test services for 85,000 rupiahs ($6) from 7:00am to 7:00pm as a way to provide better services and implement strict health protocols amid the pandemic.

At the initial stage, the Covid-19 rapid tests will only be available at Pasar Senen Station in Central Jakarta. The other stations will follow suit gradually.

“We provide the service for the convenience of our customers when traveling by train during the ‘adapting to new habits’ period. We hope the customers will make use of it,” said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo in a statement on July 27.

Before the rapid tests, customers were required to show their booking code of tickets for long-distance trains.

“By providing the rapid test services, it can increase the mobility of people, while remaining safe, comfortable, and healthy in their journey,” Didiek said.
