July 3, 2020, 10.29 PM

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – People who plan to travel by shuttle service from Jakarta to Bandung in West Java and vice versa can now take Damri, a state-owned public transport operator.

The bus operator launched its shuttle services Friday, July 3 to serve new routes between Kalibata City in South Jakarta and Festival Citylink as well as Kebon Kawung in Bandung, located about 150 kilometers southeast of the Indonesian capital. The shuttle services operate daily from 7am to 5pm.

The initiative aims to support the government programs to link many areas in the country and boost investment, Damri said in statement sent to Kompas.com.

The new service also seeks "to optimize convenient access to public transport between Jakarta Province and West Java Province as one of the programs to accelerate national economic growth,” said PT Damri Corporate Secretary Nico R Saputra.

Meanwhile, Damri Director of Commercial and Business Development Sandry Pasambuna said he was optimistic that the opening of the new routes could boost the business climate and explore new economic activities between the two provinces.

Sandry said at the launch ceremony that Damri intended to support the development of the Festival Citylink shopping center and continue to improve the state-owned transportation operator services. He hoped that Damri would become a large and proud transportation company in the future.

He thanked all the relevant stakeholders for supporting Damri to serve the new routes.

During the two-day promotion from July 3 to July 4, Damri offers a one-way special rate of 100,000 rupiahs ($6.90) from its normal ticket price of 120,000 rupiahs. Tickets can be purchased via Damri apps or via RedBus online travel agent.

Other private shuttle services have also been serving travellers taking the Jakarta-Bandung routes every hour for seven days a week with ticket prices ranging from 85,000 rupiahs to around 170,000 rupiahs depending on the pick-up and drop-off points.
