Covid-19 in Jakarta
Covid-19 data for July 1 indicates that Jakarta has once again claimed the top spot for the highest number of new infections with 217 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.
Indonesia has a national tally of 57,770 confirmed Covid-19 cases as of Monday.
The Jakarta Provincial Government has stated that the high numbers of daily Covid-19 cases are the result of more aggressive testing and contact tracing measures.
Jakarta continues to reopen businesses during the new normal transition period including shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, and tourist attractions.

Around 80 Jakarta malls have reopened and agreed to comply with Covid-19 health protocols, however, the visitor capacity has reached below 50 percent.
Jakarta’s notorious traffic is nearing pre-pandemic levels as 96 percent of the city’s private vehicle users have returned to the roads.
The information was shared by Susilo Dewanto, Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency on June 30.
