“We will evaluate [Monusco’s] security system…because [Sergeant Major Wahyudi’s] engineering company relied on UN safeguards,” said Major General Victor H. Simatupang, the commander of the TNI’s Peacekeeping Mission Center.
“We noticed potential vulnerabilities [in the system]. We are considering suggesting additional monitoring tools such as drones [during patrols].”
Victor added that UN members, including Indonesia, urged the Congolese government to investigate the attack and find the perpetrators. Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has sent a diplomatic note to the Congolese government to this effect.
Kompas TV reported that Sergeant Major Wahyudi's remains will be returned to Indonesia on July 1.
