Fully Vaccinated Domestic Travelers No Longer Need to Take Coronavirus Tests: Indonesia

KOMPAS.com – Fully vaccinated domestic travelers do not need to present proof of negative Covid-19 tests when traveling by land, sea, and air across Indonesia, a senior cabinet minister said on Monday, March 7.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan told a press conference that the decision was taken as the Covid-19 situation improves in the country.

“The trend of daily cases nationwide has decreased significantly, the number of Covid-19 hospitalizations and death rates have also declined,” Luhut told a virtual press conference on Monday, March 7.

Covid-19 cases show a decreasing trend

Luhut further added that the number of daily cases shows a decreasing trend in all provinces of Java and Bali. The hospitalization rate in Java and Bali has also decreased except in Yogyakarta.

He predicted that the situation will be improved in the next few days. In addition, the number of deaths in Jakarta, Bali, and Banten has also decreased.

“Soon, other provinces could experience similar improvements,” he said.

Covid-19 measures in Java, Bali from March 8-14

As the Covid-19 situation abates, the government has decided to issue some adjustments starting from this week as the implementation of restrictions on community activities or locally known as PPKM continues as follow:

Domestic travelers no longer need to take Covid-19 tests (PCR and antigen test)
Fully vaccinated people who intend to travel by various transportation modes in the country will not be required to present proof of negative PCR or antigen test.

Attending sport events

People can now watch all offline sports games. However, they must already receive their booster shots and activate the pedulilindungi surveillance application. The maximum capacity of people during the sports games are the following:

PPKM Level 4: 25 percent
PPKM Level 3: 50 percent
PPKM Level 2: 75 percent
PPKM Level 1: 100 percent
