JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – International travelers - both Indonesian citizens and foreigners - must now show a full course of vaccination certificate upon their arrival in the country.
The regulation starts to take effect on Wednesday, August 11 until further notice, following the release of Covid-19 Task Force Circular No. 18/2021 on health protocols for travelers during the pandemic.
If an Indonesian citizen has not been fully vaccinated abroad, he will receive his Covid-19 shot at the quarantine place upon arrival in Indonesia following the negative result of the second reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) swab test. This regulation will also be applied to foreigners who are allowed to enter Indonesia.
This includes foreigners who are the holders of diplomatic stay permit or service stay permit, temporary stay permit, or permanent stay permit. Also, foreigners who are already in Indonesia and will travel both domestically and internationally, are required to get vaccinated through mutual cooperation schemes conducted by private companies.
However, foreigners who are the holders of an Indonesian diplomatic visa or Indonesian service visa, including high-ranking officials at the minister level and above are exempt from the regulation. Besides, foreign citizens who enter Indonesia under the travel corridor scheme are also exempt from the entry requirements during the pandemic.
Foreigners who will depart from Indonesia will not be required to show their Covid certificates after receiving permission from the local Port Health Office. Exemptions also apply to international
Exceptions also apply to international travelers under the age of 18 and those with special health conditions or comorbidity diseases that prevent them from receiving vaccines. But, they must attach a doctor's certificate.
