June 7, 2021, 10.26 PM

YOGYAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Yogyakarta administration continues to prepare the "Work from Yogyakarta" program in a bid to boost the province’s battered tourist industry.

"The program is planned to start in July as preparations are underway this month," said Head of the Yogyakarta Tourism Office Singgih Raharjo on Saturday, June 5.

Singgih said the Yogyakarta administration is preparing what needs to be done so that tourist attractions and hotels can implement health protocols properly.

According to him, 269 tour operators in the Indonesian province of Yogyakarta have been certified CHSE (Clean, Health, Safety, and Environment) program.

"If a tourism spot has not been certified, it cannot operate. This aims to open an opportunity or confidence for tourists or business people to consider working from Yogya'," said Singgih.

Besides the health aspect, the Yogyakarta administration will also provide an internet connection to support the program, including in the tourist villages.

"This is part of what we offer for 'Work from Yogyakarta'," said Singgih.

The plans to revive tourism through the "Work from Yogyakarta" program are supported by Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno.

However, Sandiaga said that to create an attractive program, the existing facilities must support the digital nomad work pattern.

"There must be a fast internet connection, higher quality internet access. We will coordinate with the stakeholders here," said Sandiaga.
