Indonesian Lifter Clinches Gold Medals, Breaks 3 World Records at 2021 IWF Junior World Championships
Young lifter Rizki Juniansyah bagged three gold medals for Indonesia and broke the world records in all three events during the 2021 IWF Junior World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Wednesday, May 26.
Rizki competed in the men’s 73 kg category with lifting 155 kg in snatch and 194 kg in clean and jerk, totaling 349 kg.
The 18-year-old athlete set a new world mark, which broke the previous record set by American lifter Cunmings JR Clarence on June 27, 2019, totaling 347 kg between the 154 kg in snatch and 193 kg in clean and jerk.
Indonesian weightlifting association deputy secretary general Sony Kasiran said that lifter Resty Anggi also bagged a bronze medal in the women’s 64 kg category.
Lifter Windy Cantika Aisah also bagged three gold medals after competing in the women’s 49 kg category, while Juliana Klarisa managed to bring home a bronze medal in the women’s 55 kg.
“In total Indonesia clinched six gold medals, four bronze medals, and world records in three events,” BolaSport.com quoted Sony as saying.
“We are proud of this achievement. But, there is a need for evaluation as nothing is perfect.”
