JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian Forum for Budget Transparency National Secretariat (Seknas Fitra) research manager, Badiul Hadi, called on the government to revoke the controversial policy on lobster seed that caused state losses.
“The government must revoke the policy on lobster seed export. I agree that we have to speak with one voice as the export causes state losses,” said Badiul in a virtual discussion on Wednesday, March 17.
Besides, he added, the lobster seed export could threaten lobster biodiversity.
He also called on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to strengthen its commitment to fight against corruption related to the lobster seed export. The handling of corruption cases must be immediately cleared.
Regarding the corruption cases related to lobster seed, KPK previously has named seven suspects in the case, including former Maritime and Fisheries Minister Edhy Prabowo.
Edhy allegedly took bribes from companies that have been issued export permits. They used a forwarding company and kept the money up to 9.8 billion rupiahs ($678,000) in an account.
Besides, he was accused of receiving $100,000 from an alleged bribe-giver Suharjito, director of PT Dua Putra Perkasa, and his secretary.
