KOMPAS.com - As one of the world's largest coffee producers, Indonesia observes National Coffee Day on March 11 to promote the high quality and uniqueness of its coffee.
One of its unique coffees is known as Rarobang, which is originated from Ambon in Molucca islands even though the islands are the home of many famous spices, not coffees.
Rarobang Coffee, however, is a mixed drink with famous spices from Ambon. It is actually Arabica coffee that grows in many parts of Indonesia. But, the Ambonese elders wanted more than just the soothing benefit that pure coffee already has.

Therefore, when making a cup of Rarobang Coffee, one needs to add various spices such as ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and lemongrass to a cup of Arabica coffee.
All ingredients are mixed in a pot of boiling water. Before pouring it into a cup, use a strainer to get a different coffee mixture than usual. As a final preparation, sprinkle it with chopped walnuts. If you opt for sweet coffee drinks, you may want to add sugar, honey, or condensed milk into your cup. A blend of warm spices further strengthens the distinctive aroma of coffee that is already strong. The Ambonese will also have local snacks that pair perfectly with coffee.
