Two Yemeni Nationals Test Positive for Covid-19 in Indonesia’s West Java Tourist Area

BOGOR, KOMPAS.com – A total of 22 holidaymakers, including two Yemeni nationals, have tested positive for coronavirus during rapid antigen tests carried out by a joint team of the Covid-19 Task Force in Bogor regency, West Java.

The joint team has conducted the rapid antigen tests to 1,200 along the road in the tourist area of Puncak in Bogor, West Java during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays from December 24, 2020, to January 2, 2021.

“Data from the Bogor Health Agency states that about 1,200 people have undergone the rapid antigen tests and some holidaymakers have tested positive for the coronavirus,” the Bogor Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) head Agus Ridho told journalists in Gadog intersection, Bogor on Saturday, January 2.

“During the Covid-19 tests, 22 holidaymakers were confirmed positive for coronavirus, including two foreigners from Yemen,” Agus added.

He explained that the two Yemeni nationals who live in Jakarta wanted to spend their year-end holiday in the highland area of Puncak, Bogor.

But, they were immediately told to return to their home in Jakarta for self-isolation.
Agus said that his office has also coordinated with the Jakarta Health Agency regarding the name and address of the people who have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Separately, the head of Health Services at the Bogor Health Agency, Kusnadi, also confirmed that the two Yemeni nationals have tested positive for the Covid-19.

“Yes, they have undergone the Covid-19 tests on December 27,” Kusnadi told Kompas.com.
He said the husband and wife wanted to go on a vacation in the tourist area in Puncak, but they had to return to their home in Jakarta following the test results.

As of January 1, the number of confirmed cases in the Bogor regency reached 776, bringing the total to more than 5,300. As many as 4,501 people have recovered, while 73 people have died.

Currently, the Bogor regency has no Covid-19 free zone as 36 out of 40 sub-districts are designated red zones for high risk of coronavirus transmission. The other four sub-districts are designated orange zones for moderate risk.
