KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI), has received a $200 million credit facility from the state-run Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM).

The funding is projected to meet the needs of exporters and provide the opportunity for entrepreneurs to develop their businesses that will increase national exports.

Meanwhile, the authorities have barred British citizens and other foreign travelers coming from the UK from entering Indonesia during the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations due to the discovery of a new Covid-19 strain in the country known as SARS-CoV-2.

1. Indonesian Eximbank Receives $200 Million Loan from Korean Eximbank

Indonesia Eximbank, also known as the Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI), has received a $200 million credit facility for a two-year tenor from the state-run Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM).

LPEI Managing Director III Agus Windiarto said the funding would not only strengthen the bilateral trade between the two countries but also enhance the partnership among members of the Asian Exim Banks Forum (AEBF).

“LPEI welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with Korea Eximbank following the collaboration with China Eximbank during these difficult times,” said Agus in a statement on Wednesday, December 23.

“The cooperation will enhance our collaboration among members of the Asian Exim Bank Forum,” he added.

He further added that the funding is projected to meet the needs of exporters and provide the opportunity for entrepreneurs to develop their businesses that will increase national exports.

2. Indonesia to Ban British Nationals During Year-End Holidays

Indonesia has barred British citizens and other foreign travelers coming from the UK from entering Indonesia during Christmas and New Year’s holidays, following the recent discovery of a new Covid-19 strain in the country known as SARS-CoV-2.

The government announced the move, as an addendum to a circular letter on health protocols for travelers during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday by Indonesia’s Covid-19 Task Force.

“[British] or other foreign nationals [from Great Britain] cannot enter Indonesia, whether they come directly [from Great Britain] or transit in a third country,” said the circular.

On the other hand, “Indonesian citizens arriving directly from Great Britain to Indonesia or transiting in a third country are permitted to enter Indonesia if they can show a negative result in an RT-PCR test in their country of origin [Great Britain] taken 48 hours before their departure.”

The task force added that they will need to bring the test during a health check carried out by the e-HAC International Indonesia.”

3. Jokowi Inaugurates New Ministers, Deputy Ministers

Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo inaugurated on Wednesday six new cabinet members and five deputy ministers at the State Palace in Jakarta.

The new ministers were installed based on Presidential Decree No. 133/2020 on the Filling and Replacement of Several Ministers in Onward Indonesia Cabinet for the period of 2019-2024.

Meanwhile, the appointment of the deputy ministers was based on Presidential Decree No. 76/2020 on the Dismissal and Appointment of Deputy Ministers in Onward Indonesia Cabinet from 2019 to 2024.

Below is the list of the new cabinet ministers and deputy ministers:
1. Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini
2. Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahudin Uno

9. Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono
10. Deputy Agriculture Minister Harfiq Hasnul Qolbi
11. Deputy State-Owned Enterprises Minister Pahala Nugraha Mansyuri
