Jakarta’s Main Airport Hits Record High in Passenger Movement amid Covid-19

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – Soekarno-Hatta International Airport near Jakarta saw a record high in passenger movement on October 28 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, an official said on Friday.

Indonesia’s biggest airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II president director Muhammad Awaluddin said that the passenger volume hit a record high of 64,021 and 644 flight movements on Wednesday.

“This data shows the highest number of air passengers for Soekarno-Hatta airport amid the pandemic,” Awaluddin said in a statement on October 30.

Awaluddin went on to say that the number of passenger movements brought an impact on 19 airports under the management of PT Angkasa Pura II.

The total movement of passengers and flights at 19 airports, including Soekarno-Hatta, reached 110,530 and 1,069, respectively.

“This has exceeded the previous number of around 95,000 air passengers and 1,045 flights on August 23,” he said.

He also assured that the air passengers on October 28 followed all health and safety guidelines of the health protocols.

The increasing number of passengers was a sign of public confidence in the health and safety of air transportation amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This shows that passenger confidence of air transport services has restored, including in PT Angkasa Pura II airports where health protocols are strictly in place,” he added.

1. Soekarno-Hatta (Tangerang)
2. Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta)
3. Husein Sastranegara (Bandung)
4. Kertajati (Majalengka)
5. Kualanamu (Deli Serang)
6. Supadio (Pontianak)
7. Minangkabau (Padang)
8. Sultan Syarif Kasim II (Pekanbaru)
9. Sultan Iskandar Muda (Aceh)
10. Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjung Pinang)
11. Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (Palembang)
12. Sultan Thaha (Jambi)
13. Depati Amir (Pangkalpinang)
14. Silangit (North Tapanuli)
15. Banyuwangi (East Java)
16. Tjilik Riwut (Palangkaraya)
17. Radin Inten II (Lampung)
18. Fatmawati Soekarno (Bengkulu)
19. HAS Hanandjoeddin (Belitung)
