Indonesia Lures More US Companies during US Secretary of State Pompeo’s Visit

In Jakarta, Pompeo also met with President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo and gave a speech to youth members of one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, Nahdlatul Ulama. 

Jokowi received in audience US Secretary of State in Bogor Palace, West Java, about 40 kilometers south of Jakarta. 

"Your visit amid this pandemic shows the importance of the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the US," Jokowi said in a video broadcast via the Presidential Secretariat's official YouTube Channel on Thursday. 

"During this pandemic, the mutual visits between our officials are quite intensive. I can say the most intensive ones," the President added. 

US Secretary of State posted his arrival in Jakarta via the blue-check marked verified Twitter account @SecPompeo.

“Glad to be back in Jakarta! Looking forward to meeting with President @jokowi and Foreign Minister @Menlu_RI to discuss our shared vision of a free and open #IndoPacific and my speech to @nahdlatululama on the shared values that underpin regional peace and prosperity,” he wrote.
