Furthermore, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo instructed that officials move forward with environmental restoration programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Indonesia set a goal to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 26 percent this year.
“We have to be consistent in implementing our environmental restoration program to reduce greenhouse gases,” said Jokowi during a virtual meeting on July 6.
This year, Indonesia and Norway are commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations including 10 years of partnership under the REDD+ framework.
In May 2010, both countries signed a letter of intent which stipulates their cooperation in reducing greenhouse gases caused by deforestation, forest degradation, and the loss of peatlands.
This agreement is featured in Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry’s website.
