“Many motorcyclists use those routes to evade personnel from the Covid-19 task force. We are also experiencing a shortage of personnel to man checkpoints or posts,” said Ade.

“As a result, we cannot control the numbers of vehicles and people [going to and from Puncak]. The only action we can take is advise the public and little else."
West Java has managed to reduce the rate of Covid-19 infections. The province has the fourth-highest number of cases in Indonesia behind East Java, DKI Jakarta, and South Sulawesi with 2662 cases, 162 of whom died from the disease.
