Highest Daily Number of Covid-19 Cases Recorded in Jakarta on Tuesday

In doing so, the Jakarta Provincial Government hopes to prevent the potential setback of re-tightening lockdown measures.

In the four days since its transition into the new normal, Jakarta recorded an increase in the number of daily Covid-19 infections.

During the first day of gradual easing of lockdown measures, Jakarta recorded 84 new Covid-19 cases and topped 160 new Covid-19 cases that Sunday.

Tuesday’s daily infection report was a blow to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan who recently claimed that the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the city was under control.

“Our peak was in mid-April and the cases have since decreased up to today,” he said.

The Jakarta Provincial Government pushed ahead at easing lockdown as a growing number of districts moved to the yellow zones and green zones.
