In doing so, the Jakarta Provincial Government hopes to prevent the potential setback of re-tightening lockdown measures.
In the four days since its transition into the new normal, Jakarta recorded an increase in the number of daily Covid-19 infections.
During the first day of gradual easing of lockdown measures, Jakarta recorded 84 new Covid-19 cases and topped 160 new Covid-19 cases that Sunday.
Tuesday’s daily infection report was a blow to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan who recently claimed that the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the city was under control.
“Our peak was in mid-April and the cases have since decreased up to today,” he said.
The Jakarta Provincial Government pushed ahead at easing lockdown as a growing number of districts moved to the yellow zones and green zones.
Red zones still apply in 66 community units (RW) throughout the capital. Jakarta remains one of the regions reporting the highest number of daily Covid-19 infection cases. (Writer: Nursita Sari | Editor: Nursita Sari)
