President congratulates Abu Dhabi Crown Prince on His Appointment

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia’s President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo congratulated Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed on their appointments as Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Vice President, respectively.

"The President conveyed his best wishes to both of them," said Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi who accompanied President Jokowi in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 4.

The president conveyed his messages through the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

Besides that, President Widodo highlighted the efforts to intensify economic relations between Indonesia and the UAE. The president hoped that the Indonesia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership (IUAE-CEPA) could be ratified at the earliest.

"The President expected that everything will be done by the end of the year," the minister added.

Furthermore, Retno mentioned UAE's investment in several infrastructure construction projects in Indonesia to bolster economic relations.

"He [the president] had some discussion with the UAE Ambassador regarding investment projects, including the port construction process to be completed soon," she said.

President Jokowi also expressed his willingness to attend the World Climate Action Summit that will take place in December 2023.

"He is keen to attend the World Climate Action Summit that will be held in early December, coinciding with the 52nd anniversary of the unification of all seven emirates into UAE," the minister said.
